THE COMPLETE WORKFLOW
Small footprint.
Serious capabilities.
Built for people who manage real servers. Every capability below reflects the BetterTTY 1.0.2 source — no roadmap promises disguised as features.
01 / SAVED SESSIONS
All your servers.
Under control.
Group frequently used connections and keep essential host details in one place. Create, edit, delete and open profiles without managing a dozen terminal shortcuts.
Note: permanent profile saving follows successful authentication; temporary/test-only connections do not have to be saved.
Illustrative names only, not real connection data.
02 / TERMINAL
Built around the shell.
A bundled xterm.js terminal inside a Qt desktop application — no external terminal asset CDN required. Each connected tab runs an interactive SSH session with PTY resize synchronization.
Multiple SSH tabs
Keep several active servers open; use Ctrl+Tab to advance to the next tab.
Clipboard control
Selection auto-copy is enabled by default, with explicit Copy actions available too.
Paste modes
Automatic negotiated bracketed paste, Legacy plain input or paced Slow Paste.
Appearance
Light or Dark Qt interface; adjustable terminal monospace font family and size.
TTY-friendly behavior
Interactive shells, Ctrl+C interrupt handling, and terminal/editor usage.
Connection lifecycle
Connection status, disconnect handling and per-session traffic information.
03 / FILE MANAGER
Local to remote.
Without friction.
BetterTTY's SFTP manager uses libssh SFTP APIs rather than parsing shell output. Two panels give you local and remote context, while a queue handles transfer execution.
- Upload and download queue with progress, speed and elapsed time
- Sequential transfers with overwrite/skip decisions
- Conservative recursive folder scan into the queue
- Retry selected eligible finished transfers
- Explicit confirmation before eligible delete operations
Local files → remote.
Remote files → local.
Retry eligible queue entries.
Confirmed file/empty-dir operations.
Remote overwrites are not atomic. Interrupted uploads may damage an existing remote file. Back up important files before overwriting.
04 / SAFETY & CONTROL
Practical tools.
Explicit decisions.
Host verification
Check unknown or changed SSH host keys before sending credentials. Support multiple trusted key algorithms per host and port.
Config portability
Import/export BetterTTY.json, preserve known-host records, and manage session settings in readable JSON.
Recovery & backups
Rotating backups, corruption recovery, restore latest valid backup, and config preview safeguards.
Session traffic
Current-session SSH and SFTP byte counts — not a system-wide network monitor.
Optional diagnostics
Metadata logging is off by default. Review logs before sharing, as they can contain operational identifiers.
Transparent limitations
No encrypted credential vault or master password in 1.0.2. Clear warnings, not hidden fine print.
